Hi Guys,

I posted something about track markings in another section and did not get much response!

We are looking at ways in which to ammend the apex corner markings for this seaon. It has been suggested to try some rubber mats with circles cut out and then prep work done to edges to make them suitable.

We are trying to find ways to stop tyre chunking on foams etc so your thoughts would be much appreciated. Can one of you make this idea or come up with a new suggestion?

By the way the flappy paddle idea is a non-starter - just so that you know.

Hi May i suggest you have a look at the Chipenham in wiltshire web site and look at there track markers they have them of to a tea

i don't see much wrong with the current "dome" type markings you had/have
i think the main cause of the foam tyres chunking is hitting somthing virticle and the body cutting into it
i can't see how the "domes" would chunck a tyre

We had several complaints of this last year so we are keen to try new things. I tried looking on the site recommended above but could not see any link to pictures etc so I emailed the Chairman.

I seem to remember 'back in the day' when I used to do 1/12th circuit we used some plastic domes that worked in a similar way to the wooden corner markers we have now.
I'm not 100% sure what they were or where they came from but would think the same effect could be replicated using some upturned plastic plates??? A kerb like corner with a blunt edge to prevent tyre chunking???

They could also be painted red/white to look like kerbs as the current ones are??

Alternatively just advise anyone running foams not to hit the corner markers??
I didnt chunk a single tyre all season (last time I did Mardave)....and I did hit quite a few corner markers!! But not many vertical items so would tend to agree with Andy's theory that its not the corners that chunk tyres!!!.

Anyway, in case anyone was wondering.........I am hoping to make a full come back some time during the indoor season with the new Mi4.

what we have found with the 12th scale foams is most people put additve on for far too long and softens the tire far too much and can lead to tires chunking, since working out how long it should go on for I have found that the tires chunk far less than they used to and have come away from a meeting with tires in far better condition than before, most long standing 12th drivers put rear additive on 2 heats before and 1 heat before for the fronts, the added benefit is that the tire works a lot better as well than if they are too soft, hope that helps with some of the less experienced drivers taking up this class,
