many thanks for all your comments and ideas and i think a lot of good ideas have come out

just awaiting chris ( mr mardave ) reponse and then we will be able to release a set of rules . as we run and organise the mardave GP which is growing every year and we are seen as a major mardave circuit racing club i feel the rules we adopt at club level will be the ones we run with at the GP.

Hi all,

I think its good to have discussions on here, putting peoples views & points forward, concerning an update on the current Mardave Rules, but I think that its going over the top now! Specially about the amount of extra holes in Chassis's?
If someone added 50 holes in their Chassis, they SHOULD be allowed to do so, as long as their Car meets the 1000g Weight Requirement! Obviously, the more holes you have, the weaker the Chassis becomes, possibly making it easier to 'Tweak'.......its all part of the fun of trying to make improvements to the Car, whether its for the Cooling of the Motor & Batteries or to make it more individual!

ITS A BASIC CAR SO LETS HAVE SOME BASIC RULES!

As we ALL already know, its quite obvious that we'll have to have some kind of Modified Mardave Class for their NEW Brushless System, as its far quicker than the Std Brushed G2 Motor............its the 'upgrade' option Parts that seem to be up for discussion :
As many of you know, the Carbon Fibre Chassis has been out for quite some time now, which not only makes the Mardave V12 look alot nicer, it pretty much eliminates the possibility of 'Tweak', even after a bad accident, as well as keeping all of the same Dimensions as Mardaves Std Aluminium Chassis. This is made by Fibre-Lyte, so its Commercially available to EVERYBODY!
I have personally used one of these back to back with a Std Chassis & found NO performance gain(other than preventing Tweak), it just improves the look of the Car.......this should be included in the revised RULES!

I dont see the point of Quoting Rules from the past.......there old hat now!

If we'd listened to those a few years back, we would'nt even have Lexan Bodyshells now!.........which have improved the Cars handling & looks by a long way!

My only concern at this stage is finding sufficient numbers to create a separate class because I don't think enough people exist at this stage.

I think the modified class could be taken a little further, will the standard Mardave racers with strong views please look away now and exit this page !

The 7.4v 1800mah LIPO cell designed for 1/18th scale would fit straight into a Mardave, you would probably only need one, priced at under £20, I think the standard SH motor is rated to 12 volts, can anyone confirm or deny this ? So entry into Modified could just require a new battery & charger if you don't already have one.
Dean has already mentioned this, in the interim before sufficient numbers of brushless exist a stock motor could be used (rebuildable)
Diff already been mentioned, when commercially available.
In my mind the chassis dimensions could be varied as long as the wheel base length and width is dimensionally correct (as james's car)

A lot of people do like to experiment with their cars, whats the point of having a modified class if your restricted to what you can modify.

There's certainly been a lot of discussion going on!

I think allowing brushless and carbon chassis is a great plan. As to whether to allow holes or not personally I'm not bothered as long as the 1kg weight limit is adhered to. As Gary has said brushless motors are a lot more efficient and create a lot less heat than the old technology that we use now, admittedly the sub c cells will get warm but as soon as the equivalent lipos are available holes in the chassis won't make any difference.

I think allowing the rear diff when available should also be allowed but I think it should stop there otherwise there is a risk of moving away from the simple ethos of the v12 that we use today.
