Hi Neil,

You can run any make and model of car provided its pre 1996...

I intend to run a modified Tamiya Frog. A friend is running a gold tub RC10.

Cheers

James

Dale's head count for buggy racing this summer has prompted me to up-date the post. I've got some vinyl stickers made up that I'll be giving out to drivers of the Retro class. Here's a pic of my Frog with Retro Racers stickers.

I'd be grateful if those interested in running in the Retro class could let Dale know ASAP.

Any questions...give me a shout

Cheers

James

b3 was released for the 99 worlds so isn't old enough to be vintage yet.

However, if you put slow enough motor in it I don't think anybody would object to you running in the vintage heat as there aren't many cars.

There's already somebody running a traxxas bandit which was released in 96. - Not pre 96 as the rules earlier suggest.

You probably wouldn't be able to score championship points though.

With the right gear in it a b3 should be more than competitive enough to race against the modern buggies, so personally I wouldn't bother with the vintage class.

Nick,

The vintage class is great fun and cheap - the B3 would have been bending the rules a little. The Bandit is great choice as it is still available brand new (albeit in a face-lifted version) - to correct David's recollection, the Bandit was first produced in 1995; therefore complies fully with the rule.

If you fancied something a bit more vintage and dirt cheap - Ebay is full of old Tamiya buggies like Hornets, Frogs etc. A lot of the old Tamiya buggies have been re-released so spares are readily available - just check spares availability on Ebay or visit the Tamiya Club website for more info (www.tamiyaclub.com).

Hope this post has been useful to you - look forward to seeing you in the Retro Class soon.

James
