following on from the agm and talks with roger we would like to set up a Mardave sub committee to discuss the brushless system and modding of mardaves and to discuss other elements of mardave racing. me and mark stevens would like to get this up and running and looking to see if any other regular mardave drivers would want to join. we are looking for 4 more regular drivers to make a sub comittee of 6.

if you feel you would like to join and help please pm me or mark

thanks

Hi Tim,

I may possibly be intrested, as I think that we need to discuss the Mardave Rules in more detail......i.e Std Mardave Class(G2/Std Chassis) & a Modifed Mardave Class(Brushless/Modded Chassis).

Regards,

Dean.

If the club are going down the road of having a modified mardave heat. then would i be allowed to have a mardave with the following:
1.. carbon fibre chassie with holes taken out
2..mardave brushless system.
3..front pan wheels with bearing on the front.
4..pan shell.
5.. change the gearing from mardave to 64dp or 48dp
I understand that rules would have to be placed out for this kind of thing. These were some of the things i would do to mine.

Hi Gazza,

I think that your view on the Regulations for the Mardave Std Class(Brushed) & Mardave Modified Class(Brushless) are ALMOST spot on!

I dont like the term 'run out of the box', as that can confuse People.....i.e. Manual/Electronic Speed Controllers & Tyres etc

I would make a few alterations though :

MARDAVE V12 STD CLASS(BRUSHED ONLY)

1000g Weight Limit
Fixed Axle
Std Aluminium Mardave V12 Chassis(Countersunk recommended & extra HOLES allowed.....to help cool Motor & Batteries etc)
Std V12 Front & Rear Suspension
G1/G2/NEW G2 Motor
Any ABS or Lexan Bodyshell by Mardave or Kamtec(No 12th Pan Car Shells)
Any Forward & Reverse Speed Controller

MARDAVE V12 MODIFIED CLASS(BRUSHLESS/BRUSHED)

1000g Weight Limit
Fixed Axle
Aluminium, Carbon Fibre, Carbon Composite or Fibre Glass Chassis(As long as its Commercially available, Countersunk recommended & extra HOLES allowed.......to help cool Motor & Batteries))
Std V12 Front & Rear Suspension
Mardaves Brushless Motor or 27T Rebuildable Stock Motor
Any ABS or Lexan Bodyshell by Mardave or Kamtec(No 12th Pan Car Shells)
Mardaves Brushless Speedo/Motor Combo or any Forward & Reverse Speed Controller

If upgrade items like Diffs & Alloy Rear Motor Pods become COMMERCIALLY available at later dates, we can always get together & re-access the Rules :D

There does'nt really need to be anymore Rules than the ones above, for such a basic Class of Car.

Dean.

I'm with Dean. My chassis has holes cut in it to hopefully promote air-flow around the batteries / motor. If it hadn't made the minimum weight limit then I'd put extra weights where I want it.

No-one can say that's not fair because juniors couldn't do it because when I started Ashley Hall was still racing his Mardave and it was riddled with holes (and probably under-weight too). He had drilled them all himself, and couldn't have been more than 2ft tall and about 11yrs old

My view has always been keep the rules simple, as long as there's a minimum weight and as long as you have to use Mardave suspension parts (motor pod, wishbones, stub axles, etc) that are marketed by Mardave for the V12 then what else do you need? Why can't someone make their own chassis? So long as it complies with the other rules what's the problem? OK they may be able to get a better balance on the car, good for them!! Over the years I ran a Mardave, I experimented with my own hand-made aluminium chassis, sticking a piece of 40thou plasticard on top of a Mardave chassis that was wider than the standard chassis so that I could balance the weight down the sides, that sort of thing. I never considered any of it to give me an advantage, so ended up back with a standard chassis anyway - but you don't know until you try

Regards

Ian

like the comments coming from all and like that you all like to keep mardave as standard but then have the brushless class to cover the people who like to experiment.
thanks dean for your comments nad rules , they are spot on

MARDAVE STD CLASS(BRUSHED ONLY)

1000g Weight Limit
Fixed Axle
mardave suspension and mardave wheels not ballraced front. ( sorry warren)
Std Aluminium Mardave V12 Chassis(Countersunk recommended & extra HOLES allowed.....to help cool Motor & Batteries etc)
G1/G2/NEW G2 Motor
Any ABS or Lexan Bodyshell by Mardave or Kamtec(No 12th Pan Car Shells)
Any Forward & Reverse Speed Controller

MARDAVE MODIFIED CLASS(BRUSHLESS/BRUSHED)

1000g Weight Limit
Fixed Axle
Aluminium, Carbon Fibre or Fibre Glass Chassis(As long as its Commercially available, Countersunk recommended & extra HOLES allowed.......to help cool Motor & Batteries))
Mardaves Brushless Motor or 27T Rebuildable Stock Motor
Any ABS or Lexan Bodyshell by Mardave or Kamtec(No 12th Pan Car Shells)
Mardaves Brushless Speedo or any Forward & Reverse Speed Controller

obviously the brushless system is not available for a few more weeks so we need to ensure people run to the brushed rules above or they will need to run in lowest heat. ( JAMES can you change your chassis please  . )

i think with having the 2 classes will keep the mardave moving in to a new area for those who want to develop / upgrade the car and for those who probaly cant afford brushless ( thats me ) to be able to be competitive in there own class .
