looking for help in identifying this buggy, it was given to us by bretts auntie whos husband died in iraq and brett wants to get running in memory of him.

if you can help with the name of the buggy or any instructions or websites we can use to rebuild it would be most appreciated

Looks like a Pb maxima.

I think the front suspension may have been an upgrade option as the standard car had a arms top and bottom at the front instead of the c hub arrangement fitted to yours

The car dates back to the mid 80's and the manufacturer PB racing have closed down.


There's a thread on rc10talk.com with quite a few pictures of old PB cars (mostly min mustangs which were very similar.

A poster called Bormac has posted pics of a car that looks very similar to yours on page 9 of the thread linked below.

Try asking on the thread linked to below.

There's a poster called "Mr Lexan" on there who makes a comment about having shells.

The posters on the thread are predominantly australian so expect postage to be high, but it's a very old car so options for spares are limited.

You could also try asking on the tamiyaclub forum which is generally quite good for vintage cars even if they're not tamiya.


The other alternative is to get a shell for a modern buggy with appropriate undertray and cut to suit.

If you want english there's a manual for the mini mustang which is the earlier model but shares a lot of parts.

Wow this car brings back some memories.

I had a PB mustang when I was 12, and they had been out for a couple of years then. I would date the car then around 28 years old!

The Mustang was then upgraded with the PB maxima around 1987 which had a quick release on the batteries (very forward thinking).

I think it is a great idea that you are looking at this and I think I know someone who might have one of these for spares!

I think this is the same as the link in David Warr's post.

As for a shell, you'll struggle to get hold of one - they go for a premium. I know of a chap from the Tamiya Club forum in Austrialia who knows a lot about PBs - his user name is BORMAC (see link below) - he might be able to help.
