Quicksilver Class in Off-Road?

Just curious if others would be interested. My Dad cannot handle 13.5 much less a 6.5 brushless system so I thought maybe this class could be carried over to off-road.

What cha think?

Hi Michael,

We already have a class! It's called retro - but basically just stick a silver can into something not too modern and you can join in. I personally race in this class and have a Tamiya Subaru Brat. It's good fun and I'm thinking about also getting a lunchbox for even more laughs... Speak to James (Ming) next week and get some 'Retro Racer' stickers from him to stick on the buggy!

Hi Mike,

Following on from Scott's post - the class is called is 'Retro Racers' and would be perfect for Norman. The racing is more about having fun than winning. The class is for off-road cars originally manufactured before 1996. As there are now a wide selection of re-released Tamiya models currently on the market - availability of cars and spares is excellent. I ran a re-release Frog and Vanessa's Lunchbox; this year, I'll be trying a Falcon and possibly a Thundershot.

If your dad likes the look of this, I'd be happy to advise him on a suitable choice of buggy.

Hmmm...I think it might be best to get him a Clodbuster.

I am going to have a look at that HotShot as it was a dream car when I was young. I had grasshoppers, Hornets and Blackfoots through my time. I just might take you up on this class too but I do love racing my Traxxas Bandit and Rustler against the RC10's. It does quite well but it is totally hopped up though. Just need to get a graphite chassis for them.

I've just got a newly built ReRe Hotshot in a trade. Simon Mitchell ran one last year with good results.

A Clodbuster would be cool, but not sure it would fit under the transponder bridge

The Traxxas Bandit qualifies under the rule of pre 96 - Richard Dobson used one over the summer, but found it a bit lackluster. If you want some excitement, you can't go far wrong with a Frog or a Brat in my opinion

The Wild Willy is ace - despite it's tendancy to wheelie everywhere, the handling is really good. I'd also recommend a Lunchbox - as with the Wild Willy - they're great fun and quite raceable (if you can stop laughing - that is).

THen I just might race my Bandit but I still want that Hotshot. Hail, thanks for the offer of the one you have but I just love to build them from kit. It has been 15 years or is it MORE? since I built one from kit so I am overly excited about oppening plastic bags and snapping the parts off the parts tree. LOL.

I will bring in my bandit to show you all how I have uprated it. Not to much is stock and it seriosly does well with the RC10 guys on astro with 8.5 power. Took a long time to get it dialed in but once you do it is indestructable.

So I take it Rustlers are raceable too?

Hi Michael,

Would love to see the Bandit - you know where to find us - in the corridor at the bottom of the stair well.

As you know - the Rustler is essentially the same as a Bandit - so I don't see a problem if you fancy giving it a blast.
