I cant understand the big deal with having extra holes in your Chassis if the Car makes the 1000g Weight
When you order a Carbon Fibre Chassis from Fibre-Lyte, you have OPTIONS, such as 'Any extra holes', 'Type of woven Carbon Fibre finish' used & '2.4mm or 3mm' Thickness..........which is available to everybody & up to them what they specify.

Why try & ruin a basic Class of Car with a long list of knitpicking silly Rules & Regulations?.......This was done to Formula 1 for 12months a few years back & it ruined that! Which in the end, they realised that it did'nt work!

Just because Mardave dont make the Carbon Fibre Chassis, it does'nt mean that it should'nt be allowed, specially as Fibre-Lyte state that its specifically made to the Dimensions of a Mardave V12! You dont see any of these problems in the Touring Car Classe's, where their Chassis's have holes in & many Racers fit 'upgrade' or 'aftermarket' Parts to their Cars!........its never even discussed!

I think that if Mardave are really bringing out a Diff, that will be another step forward for the Class, just like Lexan Bodyshells, Carbon Fibre Chassis's & Brushless Systems were.............but obviously, Diffs will have to be in the Brushless/Modified Class only

Keep it simple :

STANDARD V12 CLASS

1000g Weight
Std V12 Suspension Front & Rear
Std Aluminium Chassis
Fixed Axle
G1/G2 Motor
ABS or Lexan Bodyshell(no 12th Shells)
Any Forward & Reverse Speed Controller

BRUSHLESS/MODIFIED V12 CLASS

1000g Weight
Std V12 Suspension Front & Rear
Aluminium or Carbon Fibre Chassis
Fixed Axle or Mardave Diff
Mardave Brushless Motor
ABS or Lexan Bodyshell(no 12th Shells)
Mardave Brushless Speed Controller

It does'nt bother me, but if you allow Mardaves NEW Diff in the Std Class, what happens to all of the Beginner/Young Drivers that are on a very small budget & cant afford to spend the £17 for it? This will make them at a performance disadvantage & it wont be 'run out of the box', as you always put it

Surely this will be best as a 'hop-up' option in the Modified Class?

Can I ask.................Will Hinckley club ONLY be allowing the Mardave BL system at the next GP? if so WHY???

I'm running a ezrun system atm and tbh it's a good little system

Extra holes......why do we need them? it only makes for someone to do a bad job of it and bang goes the carpet

CF chassis.....WHY? I'd rather have my alloy chassis (and a spare) than watch a £20 chassis get smashed to bits if the racer gets interference.......

Its not as if a young kid is going to cut/drill their Chassis out, so why should the Person make a bad job of it?
If they've got the facilites.i.e Drill/bits then there'll be making a decent job of it!

I've got a Carbon Fibre Chassis from Fibre-Lyte, that came with holes in for the Motor & Batteries..........& it looks fantastic!

I bought 2 brand new Std Mardave Anodised Aluminium Chassis's & both came with some of the holes slightly out & 'Tweaked'..........that was one of the main reasons why I invested in one from Fibre-Lyte! To be honest, the Mardave VRX Edition should have come with a Carbon Fibre Chassis as Standard, with the high price tag that it has!

We are the main Club for Mardave Circuit Racing, with 2 successful GP Events on our Records.......so we should be setting the Standards for Revised Rules! Like I said before, if it was'nt for the likes of Daz Lee, Jb, Mark, Ben & me 4 years ago, pushing the Lexan Bodyshells into the V12 Class, they probably would'nt be allowed today & everyone would still be running those heavy, dated looking ABS versions!
I know that buying two G2 Motors means nothing to us, but £17(new Diff) is still alot of money to a youngster, that probably uses most of their Pocket money, just to pay their Entry Fee each week!

This 'run out of the box' term needs to be scrapped!........as KNOWBODY has run them like that for years!......That would mean that everyone would still be running a Mechanical Speed Controller, only Mardave Tyres & ABS Bodyshell!

If 'die-hard' Mardave Racers cant handle change & want to carry on as they are, they can still do the Std Class(which is bound to still be in the 2009 GP Event)......as for the Guys that want to progress forward with the Car & the latest technology(CF Chassis/Brushless/Diff), let them have a chance to do so........Options & Choice are always good

Like you say, we'll just have to wait & see at the Weekend, from the Results of the Poll

Fair points......but why goto the trouble of cutting the holes out if you have to start placing weights on the chassis to bring it up to 1000g weight limit? unless a standard chassis rtr is well OVER the 1000g's mark?? if so then I'll shut up now

I've seen a chassis with cut out under the motor, cells and servo......a few good hits and it was toast!

BTW CF and fibre glass ain't ALWAYS tweak free from the start I know someone who had some items/parts made for a 12th pan car and they came already tweaked!!
