Dear All,

As you may or may not be aware there is significant interest in this class for 2010.

With TC's becoming exceptionally quick many are looking for a solution for competitive close racing and Quicksilver offers this.

As such many chassis will be taking part, not just the RTR and Tamiya cars so a F1 F2 rating might need to apply, however you will all be runnign together.

The club, in association with Eric at Concept Racing are therefore providing a controlled motor for this class to try and balance things out. The HPI Saturn 27t motor will be available from Eric on the first meeting of indoors on 25th September at a slightly reduced price of only £6.00!

Just to clarify the Mardave 25t motor is not to be used in this class, however I see no issue in using an existing Tamiya motor if you wish.

Hello All,

I am thinking of making a comeback to racing having had a break of 15 months or so.

I've dug out my old Tamiya TT01E and plan to start again in the quick silver class

Please can anyone advise on suitable gear ratios for the HPI Saturn 27t motor ?

Hi Nick,

The ratio that seems optimum for the TT-01 with a silver can motor is a 25T pinion and a 55T spur. The 55T spur can be purchased as a hop-up from Tamiya - part number 53665 if you need it.

I think you'll enjoy getting back to racing in the Quicksilver class. It's good fun - relatively cheap - and has seen some close racing.

As par for the course, the club have yet to organise trophies for LAST YEARS pre Christmas series

Hi looking to run my xray in the Quick silver class what ratio is a good start point.

depends what your motor is like and the track if you gear it for max speed on the straight or fast infield personally i would let it rev rather than use torque are you running a lipo or nimh . you get a massive power gain in this class with a big lipo i,m using james,s lrp 5900 50c and also depends what speedo your running get the combination right and you should be flying

im tt01 3 racing chassis +5mm track width 1.5 deg toe out trf shocks schumacher blue front springs /white rear springs

lrp 5900 50c

lrp spx reverse speedo /punch on full

motor tamiya 27 old style... not new black or white end cap there pants slow ...im gonna use new saturn next time and tekin speedo the're really fast

Looking at that I'm really pleased with how my TT-01 performed. It's box stock TT-01E bar the fitting of ballraces and the 55T spur gear.

That's stock plastic chassis, stock fixed tracking, stock undamped friction shocks with stock springs. Plastic drive shafts and cups.

Cheap IP 4000mAh 20C LIPO battery ( still with stock Tamiya type plugs! )

Stock Tamiya TEU-101BK ESC ( that's the one that comes with the kit. )

Stock Tamiya 540 motor ( that came with the kit too - it's got a metal end cap if that means anything )

Gearing 25 / 55

Sweep 32 tyres

And it was only 2 laps short of the A final winner in the last race - I love this Quicksilver class!!

i was in the 'A' final with a slightly modified TT01E so there is nothing fundamentally wrong with the chassis and it fits in with the ethos of the class (in my opinion ) and has nothing to do with been beaten at all !!!!! (having said all that, i have an old TC4 in bits that might be brought back to life for this class....)

the only changes to mine are:-
bearings
aluminium propshaft
tamiya hop-up steering links
oil filled tamiya plastic shocks (with std springs & a lot of internal limiters to bring the ride height down to something sensible)
aluminium wheel hexes for better wheel alignment
tamiya Mercedes shell with std small wing
18 month old RP30 tyres (!)
old demon 35C 4200 Lipo
really old MRT VX esc - punch not quite on full !!

that's it.

gearing was 26/55 instead of 25/55 on a Saturn 27t motor (due to me not having the correct pinion) - a bit overgeared and sluggish but still drivable. will be 25/55 next time
