No problem Tim, on giving you my views :D

Like you've already said, I think that having a STANDARD & MODIFIED Mardave Class will keep everyone happy, as Beginners, Young Drivers & 'Die Hard' Stock Mardave Racers will be able to Race on a smaller budget, by carrying on with the current Standard 'Brushed' G2 Class..............if any then decide that they want to progress on in the world of RC Racing, but DONT want to get into the ultra-expensive world of Touring Car or 12th Pan Car Racing, they have the choice to buy a few extras to 'hop-up' their Mardave, like the Brushless Combo System & a Carbon Fibre Chassis & go into the Modified Class, which bridges the gap nicely! :D

I suggested to allow a 27T Rebuildable Stock Motor in the Modified Class, with Mardaves new Brushless Combo, because they seem to be similar on Speed, as well as it gives Racers a chance to participate in the 'hopped-up' Class, even if there budget does'nt allow them to buy the Brushless System. :)

Once Hinckley Club & its Members have decided on a clear set of Mardave Rules, they can be carried on to the 2009 Mardave GP Event, even if it means that there'll be a STANDARD(Brushed)Class & a MODIFIED(Brushless/Brushed)Class..........but to be honest, I really think that the majority of keen Mardave Racers will be running the Brushless System by then, as it gives better Performance, less Maintainance & there'll be cheaper in the long run! :wink:

Hi Gazza,

If everyone who runs in the Mardave Class, gets together & DOES'NT want a 27T Rebuildable Brushed Stock Motor to be allowed in the Modified Class with Mardaves new Brushless System, that suits me fine!, as I'll be joining Mardaves Brushless revolution anyway................the ONLY reason I suggested a 27T Rebuildable Stock Motor in with the new Mardave Brushless System, was because it still gives Racers the chance to have the choice & fun of 'hopping up' their Cars, even if there budget does'nt allow them to commit to the new Brushless technology 8)
From watching Mardaves new Brushless System at the 2008 Mardave GP Event, it looked pretty much the same speed as a Brushed 27T Rebuildable Stock Motor............which I've had experience of Racing my Car against at the Leamington Club.........it was only an idea anyway :?

As for the Rules for the 2009 Mardave GP...........the Hinckley Club & its Members set out the Rules, due to it being their specialised Event!.......Every Club generally has a different take on various Rules, that every Racer respects & follows, whichever Club or Meeting they've entered :)

Hi All

I'm not sure what benefit link to the past in the previous post is to the current discussion or how relevant it is.

The RC industry is moving forward in leaps and bounds at the moment with majour developments in motor and battery technology. The issue here in my mind is not whats available currently, but what will be available in 12 / 24 months time. Brushed 27t stock motors are already becoming scarce and I think its only a matter of time before they disappear completely.

Mardave are also moving forward and starting to embrace the technology with the development of their own brushless system. Personally I feel LIPO technology will be next, its certainly cheaper and you only need one set of cells.

I don't wish to become embroiled in this discussion, but I do feel we don't need to reflect on the past, the current rate of change is such that even the most loyal Mardave racer I think will need to relax his views slightly as the technology moves forward.
