Hi Nick,

Richard and I got our pinions from an ebay seller called Tony's Tamiya Spares. He's based in Coleshill and is very reliable.

Tamiya Aluminium pinions 24T and 25T are Tamiya part number 50477 - available from many Tamiya stockists or eBay. As James has said we recommend Tony's Tamiya Parts on eBay (europro975). He's excellent. If you want steel ones then just makes sure you buy 0.6 module ones, they are available from many RC stockists - FusionHobbies, Apex, TimeTunnel, Microtech to name a few. These links should take you straight to them.

Good on ya Chris, TT-01s are making good race cars for this class - we're enjoying oursleves a lot racing in it. You may have read further up the thread that 25T pinion and 55T spur gear seem to work well with the stock silver can motor - good balance of top end speed and punch out of the corners. The used Sorexs seemed good to me, but then I freely admit I know nothing about touring car racing but I'm enjoying learning! Will be looking out for the BTCC Laguna on Saturday then. See you there.

Don't the club do a special offer if you're racing in two classes??

I also understand that any hop-ups are allowed aslong as the motor is a stock sealed 27T silver can as per most Tamiya kits, Batteries to be 7.2Volt NiCd / NiMh or 2 cell Lipo, Rubber tyres only. K.I.S. racing - Keep It Simple!

Don't think so - Mardaves are 25T I think. A quick search on eBay for a Tamiya RS-540SH will get you a suitable one. A few sellers have them including Tony's Tamiya Parts. Tony is local being only in Coleshill and fast to post so you'll get it quickly.

I don't think a 28T motor is any quicker either - I'd expect it to be slightly slower from my rudimentary grasp of these things. Be interesting to see if the theory is right though in practice.
