A 13.5T Brushless Motor is 3200KV.
I honestly think that going for a 'Sensored' Brushless Speedo with a 13.5T Motor WILL be a definate step forward in the Mardave Class, benefitting everyone.
I DONT think that its a good idea to limit what Speed Control or 13.5T Motor that People can use, as it can alienate people/potential Racers from other Clubs, from being allowed to race in this new Class.
It would be far easier & fairer if it was :
ANY BRUSHLESS SPEEDO..........AS LONG AS IT HAS REVERSE
ANY BRUSHLESS MOTOR..........AS LONG AS ITS A 13.5TURN
The 'Sensored' System I ran last Saturday was an LRP Sphere TC Spec Speedo, which worked great!...........should do really, as its a top of the range Model. This particular Speed control DOES'NT have REVERSE, so I except the fact that I'd have to purchase another Speedo, with Reverse on it, to Race in the Mardave Class. All of the Speedos available, that have Reverse, are generally 'Sport' type Models anyway, so why waste time on dictating Price limits & Makes? Possibly alienating Racers that already have Forward & Reverse Speedos, that could be over £70, but would be suitable to use.
I used an Orion Vortex 13.5T Motor with the Sphere TC Spec, which also worked fine & was only slightly faster than a Standard(well run in) Mardave G2 Brushed Motor. Its a known fact(from many Model Shops), that this particular Motor is'nt as good/fast as the Nosram, LRP or Novak equivelents, eventhough, its more than £40, so I dont think that it would be very fair on me/other Racers that use them, if I'd have to go out & buy another 13.5T, when I already have one!

Re: [POLL ADDED] The mardave championship discussion...
Hi All,
During Saturday we had a discussion and a VOTE about the Mardave Brushless System and we decided to run the Mardave Brushless Motor and a Brushless Speedo under £70.
This was agreed in a vote and we all agreed with a show of hands but now there is a thread on it.
For this season we all agreed to run the above set-up as no has tried the motor with a seperate speedo for the Championship which starts Saturday. iI would like to see other set-ups tested as this may provide a better solution in the long run but for now run what was agreed at the vote in the Championship.
i have run sensored Brushless in my Off Road buggy and it is very good but the buggy is three times the cost of a Mardave and i think that the Mardave spirit will be carried over into its Brushless evolution using the Mardave Motor which is a spec motor which is the sucessor to the G2 as this will keep the racing close and bring it down to driving skill and Car set-up.

Re: [POLL ADDED] The mardave championship discussion...
Dean: We could leave the price out of it, the only issue here was that we don't want someone who can afford to spend £200+ on a system to be at an advantage over people who can't afford that. But if the best reverse esc is only just over 70 quid or so then I don't see this being a problem.
Gazza: is the LRP combo any better than the Nosram? It's only really the lack of brake that's an issue with the nosram system.
Mark: Yes there was a vote, but there was limited time to discuss it and some people still wern't happy. I wasn't expecting anyone to rush out and buy a new system at all, I just created this thread to discuss the possible options a little more in depth as we didn't really have time to do this at the club meeting.
I think it's worth trying a sub £70 esc with the mardave brushless motor, at least if it's rubbish then we can rule it out as a possible option. Maybe someone can try this on Saturday?
If the mardave motor is no good then the 13.5T is the only real option?

Thought this would be the case, cheers. I've heard good things about the losi motors, I think the 13.5T and esc kit is about £130 though.
