Re: motors?

Hi Dann,

Don't get yourself all excited too soon. You may be a bit premature. Rumour has it the season start is going to be postponed by a couple of weeks. The clubs great and good are having a committee meeting tonight so expect a race calendar update later.

Re: motors?

Hi Craig, As far as I'm aware the motor requirements for Quicksilver is unchanged for this season so the HPI Saturn 27T motor is still a suitable motor. Also permitted is the standard Tamiya issue silver can Johnson or Mabuchi motors as long as they are 27T. Mardave G2 motors are not permitted as th...

Re: Weather

I've been looking at the weather forecasts - Don't be put off folks - Looks like we're going to get rain overnight and possibly still have some light rain in the morning when your making your decisions, but the afternoon should be dry with some sun. So don't be put off by some morning drizzle. I can...

Re: End of season trophies - love them or hate them?

Gazza - some of the trophies we've got stored date back some years longer than the one you won!! A quick look through them and many names were unfamiliar to me so I think many of them no longer race with us. If there's any for current Hinckley racers then we will get them to them and I guess dispose...

End of season trophies - love them or hate them?

Seeing the boxes of uncollected trophies from past seasons still lingering in the store cupboard last weekend I was prompted into thinking whether trophies are appreciated. The club has invested good money into producing the trophies and it's certainly taken some effort from someone to get them prod...

Re: Pitstops?

This could add a fun element. I say not only would you have to pull into the pits to have the marker removed. I'd suggest the car has to stop totally within a marked box in front of the marshal - the marshal can only remove the marker from a car stationary within the box - overshoot the box and sorr...

F1 style fastest lap qualifying anyone??

Would anybody fancy trying racing with an F1 style fastest lap type qualifying? In an attempt at making things more interesting I'm proposing trailing a qualifying system in which the total number of laps covered during qualifying sessions is no longer the key but rather your fastest lap during qual...

Re: Hinckley

Hi Jan, If you want to drift then Hinckley RCCC isn't the place - it's indoor touring car racing on carpet. But these guys may be able to help you out at Nuneaton Drift Club

Re: what classes off buggy are running

The B4 will be a competitive Quicksilver buggy  - The Holiday Buggy will probably just be FUN!! :D Best you get both to have everything covered. Infact get a Wild Willy 2 as well - that's a real laugh to race with.

Re: what classes off buggy are running

Andy - I know I'm biased but the only class of buggies you need to worry about is the Quicksilver class mate :D Last year it was raced as the Retro Racers class but for this summer it's being opened up to any buggy with a stock Tamiya 540 motor in it. Your Scorcher will be more than welcome to race....

Re: 29/01/2011

I learnt from experience Andy. I stubbornly resisted giving up my frankly hideous Tamiya Pug 406 shell in snot yellow and struggled to get round the track - terrible grip roll as the day progressed. It was awful - I blamed the vintage TL-01 chassis - I was wrong! Raced it one day with a shell thrown...

Re: 29/01/2011

Excellent - cheers Roger. There's a few of us poor Quicksilver racers who could use racing shells. They make such a difference to the handling compared with the realistic Tamiya shells it's almost unbelievable. I still think there's a few races left in my shell yet though - there are still some part...

Re: 13.5 scrutineering

And then there are some of us who are way too fast and get in the way - how does that work??!! Seriously though formal scrutineering shouldn't really be necessary. We're racing to have fun and racers should be honest and upfront about what they're using when checking in - as Andy said they're only c...
