Re: Just saying hello
Hi Andy, Welcome mate. Go on grab yourself a stock Tamiya touring car - TT-01 or whatever is going cheap on eBay and come down and join us. There is a new racing class intended specially for Tamiya cars with stock silver can motors that is new for this winter season. I believe the club may also have...

Re: Classes for indoor season 2009/10
As i understood it it would be 27T silver can sealed motor ( 540 size ), 6 cell battery, rubber tyres. The sort of basic set-up a newcomer to racing would have as standard. Suitable motors are easily purchased from many sellers on eBay for just a few Pounds. Cheap & fun racing. I look forward to...

Re: Classes for indoor season 2009/10
Hi Richie, I don't believe it would be a problem racing older touring cars in this class as long as the 27turn sealed silver can motor is used. I think the major point has to be whether these competition level cars are raced in the spirit of the entry level racer, which I suspect any driver with an ...

Re: ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL BUGGY MEETING AT HINCKLEY
As we'll be missing Deans great write up and racing review this week I thought I'd add a few words and photos of this weeks track layout for reference. Due to Dean and others being off racing elsewhere we were down to just three heats for the final offroad meeting of the season. Weather was good and...

Re: Classes for indoor season 2009/10
The new Tamiya class sounds like a great idea to me. I'll be racing in that one. ( that's not meant to put anyone off!! ) I hope I read it correctly and the motor is going to be standard Tamiya kit issue type 27turn sealed can motors only as that's a great leveller and could see a mixture of 4WD and...

Re: ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL BUGGY MEETING AT HINCKLEY
Nice write up again Dean - I enjoy seeing the photos and reading your views on the weeks racing so keep them coming. Track was interesting and challenging even for the Retros. The long back "straight" curve was never ending and caused some spectacular rolls from you guys with the fast cars...

Keep an eye out for some stolen RCs please.
Overnight one of our fellow Retro Racers has had his garage broken into and all his RC gear stolen. Daryl raced the Madbull yesterday in the Retro Racers class and his son was the very enthusiatic young marshall so if you were there you'll know them and I'm sure want to help. Details and photos of s...

Re: ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL BUGGY MEETING AT HINCKLEY
I've been having a look at HailMings videos of the last Retro Racers - you MUST watch the complete Retro final. The racing looks great and it's very funny, especially the commentary from Dale. Find it here... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AbmppFcOBSs Shame my Brat only managed half a lap in the spo...

Re: ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL BUGGY MEETING AT HINCKLEY
Hi Dale, Just a thought about the packing away of the black hose. If it would be possible to build some sort of retaining cage at the back of the container to hold the hose I think storage space and packing away speed could be improved further. It was quite hard work battling the hose to keep it all...

Re: ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL BUGGY MEETING AT HINCKLEY
Hi David, Thanks for the tyre advice. I've just looked up the details on the Traxxas website and the Bandit was first released in 1995 - your memory is serving you pretty well! Just measured the wheels and they are 2.2s as you predicted, for some reason I thought they were an odd size and I was rest...

Re: ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL BUGGY MEETING AT HINCKLEY
Nice write up Dean. Have to agree the day went well and was good fun despite the weather. Amazing turn out in the rain - are we all mad??!! Really enjoyed the track layout. The hairpin before the table top was handy in reducing the speed of cars over the jump and therefore low flying UFOs past marsh...
Re: Newbi
John, Thanks for the extra info - you may be surprised to hear but the Tamiya Hornet and Boomerang cars you've mentioned have both recently been re-released by Tamiya and parts are very easily available for both. Both are good cars and can be raced at Hinckley in the "Retro Racers" class. ...
Re: Newbi
Hi John, Just a few thoughts about your question about your first car. Is this to be your first ever RC car or just your first racer? Are you intending on using the car solely for racing or just out for some fun racing and will also be using the car off track elsewhere aswell? All the cars on your s...

Re: ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL BUGGY MEEETING AT HINCKLEY
Yep - cheers Justin, As James has said I don't think alterations to the course just for the Retro Racers would be necessary. The table top was no problem as it could be driven over at reasonable pace rather than jumped and the small jumps similarly caused no problems. The tall ramp though has no slo...

Re: ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL BUGGY MEEETING AT HINCKLEY
Hi, Enjoyed yesterday's racing, was great to get the old retro cars out and running again. I've got one issue though regarding ramps and obstacles from a retro point of view. The retro cars are relatively heavy and many have very poor suspension by modern comparisons - the ones I raced yesterday hav...
