Re: Quick Silver - Tamiya & RTR Touring Car Thread

As I was unfortunately was not able to race yesterday and so was not there to witness this G2 motor transgression for myself I'm wondering if the drivers involved are actually aware of the no Mardave G2 motor rules? Not everyone is active on the forum or possibly even aware of it. Perhaps the QuickS...

Re: Clarification of the Quick Silver Series Rules

as an (as yet) non-racer in this class the last thing i want to do is cause any upset as i think the principle of the class is sound. the one thing i will add is that it does feel good beating more expensive, perhaps 'capable' cars with a £30 TT01E made up from odd bits and pieces i had lying aroun...

Re: Clarification of the Quick Silver Series Rules

Don't panic Richie, I think you'll be OK! Quick Silver is meant to be simple, fun, entry level racing. The rules are only there to try and to keep it that way. Don't go doing anything rash as you are a valued racer in this class. Although they may appear OTT it's good to have the ground rules laid o...

Re: Clarification of the Quick Silver Series Rules

Interesting graphs there - I'm guessing ( EDIT- I GUESSED WRONG _ SEE POST BELOW!!) that our standard Mabuchi motors that come with Tamiya kits are the 7520 version as Tamiya ESCs are intended for use on 7.2volts so why would they include the higher voltage motor. As the 6527 is slower and less powe...

Re: Quick Silver - Tamiya & RTR Touring Car Thread

Hi all, I know I'm NOT a Racer in your RTR 'Quick Silver' Class, but after hearing some of your Comments regarding the Silver Can Motors, I thought I'd make a suggestion  One of our Friends/fellow Racers(Shane West)works in 'Dominoes' Toy Shop in Leicester, which is one of the Key Stockists ...

Re: Quick Silver - Tamiya & RTR Touring Car Thread

Look lads, I know I keep harping on, but who is going to want to pay £19.50 for a tamiya motor when a mardave silver can is £9 & OK it maybe is slightly faster but is it really that much different. Why don't you just allow Mardave motors ! Isn't this that simple. If this is all about fun then w...

Re: Quick Silver - Tamiya & RTR Touring Car Thread

Very good point Richie - the lack of obvious markings on the Tamiya type 540 silver can motors does make it difficult to identify them easily. I'm hoping the people racing with us are honest and want to race on an equal footing with an equal motor. A reliable source for the motors is the best way to...

Richard Not quite £6 Rich - can you stretch to the extra 80p?? - eBay - search for Tamiya RS-540SH or item number 330351881235 As for scrutinising motors hopefully we wont need to - aslong as all are aware of the 27T motor rule hopef...

Re: Quick Silver - Tamiya & RTR Touring Car Thread

Hi Rich, I agree - we need clarification on this rule and need to stick to it as the 25T Mardave G2 motor does give a speed advantage. ( Well it does to you guys skilled enough to use it! ) As James has said initially the idea was to limit the motor to the stock Tamiya motors provided with their kit...

As suggested by James here's the newly improved Quicksilver Club Car 2 - now with foam front bumper - may the bodyshell live long into the new year!
