Re: Buggy Racing sunday 19th april

4wd regional at cov?

Don't think there's a 2wd class but as long as your car is over 1588g you can run it with the 4wd cars.

Not aware of anywhere doing 2wd.

Re: MIDLAND ASTRO-TURF MASTERS THIS SUNDAY - 12TH APRIL

Looks like no kiddy for me. Went practicing at Coventry today. Car is pants on astro. Shock settings were well out and weight a bit too far forward, making handling interesting . Consequently the car now has slightly less rear wishbone than neccesary. as well as sporting rather less undertray than u...

Re: MIDLAND ASTRO-TURF MASTERS THIS SUNDAY - 12TH APRIL

Looking at the pictures the track appears to be half carpet / half tarmac.

Sorex 24s could be the tyre to use

Does not look promising for spike tyre life.

Re: so who is up for running buggies at the last indoor meet

Would say yes but it's the same weekend as Kidderminster regional, and don't want to race Saturday and have to rebuild the car for Sunday.

If you get to 5 cars and need 1 more I may be persuaded.

Re: A vote for indoor buggies.

You could easily put in one or 2 kick jumps and remove them for the other classes. We've done this in the past. I'd like to run buggy, but not interested if it goes the foam / touring car spring route. Using touring car springs is another thing which I believe contributed to all the issues we used t...

Re: who is doing the regionals this year?

The whole carpet damage thing is a myth with buggies. I have seen marks caused by spiked touring car tyres, - but touring cars have much smaller tyres which exert higher pressure, and often solid axles / one ways. With wide tyres and diffs as used in buggies it simply isn't an issue. Everybody ran s...

Re: who is doing the regionals this year?

I'll be doing a few regionals. We used to have a few epople run buggies on foams indoors with touring car springs. The main thing that killed it as the track markings at the time, which killed buggy wishbones. (Solid wooden blocks) The current track markings are a bit friendlier though. My personal ...

Re: B3 Gearing

Never run an 8.5, but for a 6.5 you'd want to be geared approx 10.2 overall.

Internal ratio of a b3 is 2.4 so assuming it's the standard 81t spur gear, that would be a 19t pinion.

For an 8.5 you'll need to be geared a little bit higher, so if it were me I'd try a 22t pinion to start with.

Re: MIDLAND ASTRO-TURF MASTERS THIS SUNDAY - 22nd MARCH

Cheers.

Not a fan of charging of batteries installed in real cars. - Been caught out before.

Also had 1 or 2 electronic issues with the real car of late which I suspect may be voltage related.

Brushless speedo seems to be playing up now anyway so looks unlikely i will make it tommorrow.

Re: MIDLAND ASTRO-TURF MASTERS THIS SUNDAY - 22nd MARCH

Dean / or anybody else that's going

Any chance of sharing the corner of a table / 12 volt ?

Thinking about going as long as its dry, but won't have a table or 12V available.

Also what gearing for a 6.5 ?

Cheers

Re: Buggy Season starts in May

Sand works ok but kills tyres.- Ever heard of sand paper? Haven't we got some old bits of carpet in the container? Out of interest am I the only person round here that disikes rumble strips? I'd also say that the sheet of wood idea isn't the way to go. You need a rounded or wedgeshape, not a step. -...

Re: dale question about buggy's???

I'd be interested in running buggy. Ripped carpet is pretty rare, in my experience. We ran buggys for years indoors and never had a problem that I can remember. Although I can remember a number of occasions where there have been problems with loose screws from touring car chassis / mardaves etc. cat...

Warren - Without wishing to get involved in an argument. I believe that Dale locked the last thread for a reason. Now having had the thread locked, do you really think it's a good idea to copy and paste the threads contents and carry on the debate? You also missed the point that theres only 3 second...
