Re: 2011 race class's

Nice one Jamie (and James G) - they're good fun. I've got the XEvo conversion on mine; handles well and is surprisingly quick with just a 27T motor. I reckon a heat of these would be great to watch.

Racing 23/07/11

Hi Folks, The forecast is looking good for racing this weekend; hopefully it will make up for last week's washout. Despite the rain last Saturday, the afternoon turned out to be quite nice and the track conditions looked good for racing. As a point of clarification for future scheduled meetings - pl...

Re: 2011 race class's

Hi Martyn, That looks good to me - I'll pass on your views to the Committee and see what they think. We need to get this set in good time for September to allow racers to make their preparations. In the meantime hopefully we'll get some more interest in this post from other members. Catch you later....

Any Racing this Weekend.

Following the posts regarding extending the summer off-road season until the end of August. Can we confirm whether there'll be a meeting this Saturday? If yes, then we'll need a post in the news section and an amendment to the race calendar.

Cheers

Re: RACING AT HRCCC EVERY SATURDAY THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER

Hi Dean,

I'm in favour of more off-road meetings this summer - and I'm sure others will be pleased too. The new venue has been a great success and rekindled interest in buggy racing - it would be a shame not to take full advantage of this.

Re: Weather

I think it will be fine...the Met Office forecast for the afternoon is more optimistic

A light shower will probably improve the track conditions.

Re: quicksilver buggies thread

Just one of those heatsinks with a fan on...it gets warm, but not excessively hot - I can hold my finger on it quite comfortably.

Re: quicksilver buggies thread

Hi Barry,

Somewhere around 7.5 FDR - I've tried slightly lower (7.43) on my Mad Monkey and it seems to be fine.

Re: Shock Fluid For mad rat Buggy

Hi Michael,

You'll want to use the thicker oil (i.e. 30wt) in the front. Although you might want slightly thicker oil all round - perhaps 35wt in the front and 30wt in the rear.

Cheers

Re: Rc Buggy question?

Hi Michael, You should be well set-up by the sounds of it. Yes you'll need a hard cased 2S 7.4V LiPo pack - there's plenty of choice out there - I'd suggest you have a look at one of the large on-line shops, such as Modelsport UK or Apex Models (see links) http://www.modelsport.co.uk/lipo/electric-p...

Re: Rc Buggy question?

If you go for LiPo, then you'll need 7.4V in a hard case - prices start from about £30 a pack. NiMHs are still available if you want to keep the cost down - a typical 7.2V pack costs about £20. In the Quick Silver class, the only type of motor permitted is a 27 turn sealed silver can motor - for exa...

Re: Rc Buggy question?

Hi Michael,

As Andy said - a Mad Rat or Mad Monkey would be a good choice - they're cheap, go well and spares are plentiful.

I'd recommend you stick a 27T silver can motor in and join us in the Quick Silver class for some close, fun racing (not that I'm biased  ).

Cheers

Re: B4 buggy

Hi Andy, On the basis we're running 5.5 FDR indoors in the Quick Silver class - I'd start with approx. 7.5 FDR (accounting for larger wheel size and drag from the grass surface). I understand the internal ratio of a B4 is 2.6 and the stock spur gear has 81 teeth; therefore try a 28 tooth pinion as a...

Pitstops?

Hi Folks, Richard and I got talking to Roger after yesterday's race meeting - the discussion turned to ways to make racing more interesting. What would people think to having longer finals (say 8 minutes) with a mandatory pit stop? The way this could work is as follows: 1. The track would incorporat...
